The signing of an agreement on cooperation in the scientific and educational field between the Center for People's Diplomacy and the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) occurred on May 27 in NETI Hall. The document assumes joint work of the parties to the agreement with educational institutions in many African countries: schools, universities, and educational centers for children and adults.
Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Sergey Chernov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at NSTU-NETI, noted: "We are making significant efforts to expand the geography of our university's activities to attract foreign applicants and students. Therefore, last year we actively contacted the educational systems of the countries of Southeast Asia. Some time ago, NSTU-NETI started cooperating with the Center for People's Diplomacy, one of the tasks of which is to create Russian houses in African countries, for example, in Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea, etc. The agreement with the Center will allow NSTU-NETI to enter agreements on cooperation with local universities and schools to attract applicants."
Sergey Chernov assessed the African continent as a very promising market for offering a variety of educational services. Russian, English and French, as well as teacher training programs both in person in Russia and online, are available for students, teachers and training centers of NSTU-NETI to teach classes online in basic school subjects (mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, Russian as a foreign language, etc.).
In addition, teachers and staff of NSTU-NETI are ready to share their experience in organizing a system for selecting talented youth and creating motivation for higher education, including by holding Olympiads with the right for winners to receive quota budget places to study at NSTU-NETI or creating preparatory departments for applicants.
The organization of the NSTU-NETI support center in one of the countries as a platform for informing, advising, and recruiting applicants, as well as the base of the preparatory department and the place of direct recruitment for higher education programs will expand the opportunities of young people from African countries when applying to universities in the Russian Federation.
