A librarian from Novosibirsk, a graduate of NSTU NETI, philologist Sergei Petunin won the award of "Nash Sovremennik" journal in the category "Young historians and publicists". He was awarded for the article "Vodolazkin Syndrome": why do philologists write bad novels?" (No. 8, 2020).
The jury of the contest noted the original view of the Novosibirsk author on the problems of modern literature. In particular, Sergei Petunin reasons about the rapid professional burnout of philologists-writers and poses a question of how a philologist can manage not only to read, but also to write. Sergei Petunin graduated from the Faculty of Humanities of NSTU NETI in 2013 with a degree in Philology, and wrote his thesis on the work of Vasily Shukshin. Since 2014, he has been working at the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library. He runs a popular blog "Creative Reading", where he shares his thoughts about literature and encourages subscribers to go to the library more often.
