On April 9, Novosibirsk State Technical University held the annual national event for native language lovers Total Dictation. 420 works in Russian were written at our university, including about 20 works written by Russian sign language native speakers.
This year, Novosibirsk participants of Total Dictation wrote The Nine Hundredth, the original text by a Russian author Maria Stepnova, it was July – second of the four parts of the text.
The feature of Total Dictation at NSTU NETI was the venue at the Institute of Social Technologies for people with disabilities: deaf and hard of hearing participants were able to write dictation with the help of Russian sign language interpreters (Svetlana Elfimova and Olga Varinova). This venue has been operating for three years. The text of the dictation was read by Daria Emelyanova, the actress of the "Red Torch" theater, known for her role in the play "Three Sisters", which is in sign language.
Also, Konstantin Telegin, the "Red Torch" actor and Vladimir Tkachenko, a musician of the "Undervud" group, were in the role of "dictators" at NSTU NETI.
Our traditional "dictators" are Galina Mandrikova, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), the Head of Philology Department, Vyacheslav Gorchakov, TV host (Novosibirsk News), and Tatiana Permyakova, Candidate of Sciences (Philology), Associate Professor of Philology Department.
According to the participants, the Total Dictation at NSTU was successful, our venue is the best and most popular in Novosibirsk for a good reason, the main "workforce" of Total Dictation at the university are volunteers — the first, second, and third year philology and journalism students.
Many participants of the Dictation attend NSTU NETI venue every year.
"I write the Total Dictation at NSTU every year, because it's nice to be in my own classrooms. Last year, the text was structurally more complex: a lot of paragraphs, direct speech, as well as interesting one-word sentences. This year, although the text is simpler, it still gave only pleasant emotions, so I hope for an excellent mark," shared her impressions Inna Hatsevich, our university graduate.
Ekaterina Dzhindzhikhashvili, another graduate, told: "We are happy to write dictation in our own 6th building. I have written the Dictation at least eight times, so from experience I can say that the text was easier compared to the last year's one. Especially, I liked the historical reference to the 19th century in the Total Dictation-2022 text. After writing it, I feel only positive, good emotions."
After turning in papers, the participants received useful gifts from the Total Dictation partner — the pharmaceutical company Renewal.
Now the event team is under way checking the works, the results will be known after April, 25.
