Engineers of the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) have developed an electric motor from domestic components for a convection oven, which is used on board the aircraft to heat food.
"We developed the engine by order of the Omsk Research Institute of Instrument Engineering. At the stage of concluding the contract, a technical specification was drawn up, where all the requirements for the characteristics of the product were prescribed. Since the convection oven, where food is heated with hot air, is quite compact, strict requirements regarding the dimensions of the product were imposed on the development. We manufactured the active part of the electric motor — the stator core, the winding, the rotor, only the magnets were ordered in China. In the presence of the customer, tests were carried out at the stand at NSTU-NETI — they checked that the engine reaches the desired speed and is capable of producing the necessary mechanical power. According to the test results, small improvements are planned related to ensuring the manufacturability of the manufacture of electric motor components," said Dmitry Toporkov, Director of the engineering center "Energy—efficient Electromechanics and Mechatronics" at NSTU-NETI.
According to him, five more prototypes will be manufactured in the near future, taking into account adjustments. Acceptance tests of the product as part of a convection oven are also planned.
"In the future, the customer plans to introduce the engines developed by us into production," Dmitry Toporkov added.
