"The Eleventh Summer" is a puzzle game for schoolchildren - future students - to introduce them to the areas of study and disciplines of NSTU-NETI.
The project participates in the All-Russian student competition "Your Move", the team leader is Maxim Yadrov, a sophomore at the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering, the field of study "Computer Science and Computer Engineering"; also among the developers are M. Yadrov's classmates — Danil Khaustov and Maxim Shatalov.
"The team and I are confident that computer games can not only entertain but, also benefit," said the team leader. "The Eleventh Summer will help applicants get used to student life, prepare them for a leap in the level of complexity of university education compared to school education, and give them the opportunity to relax after passing the Unified State Exam."
The developers explained that they found the project based on the experience of their own difficult adaptation to student life. Therefore, the members of the Eleventh Summer team decided to help future students in a playful way to minimize the difficulties of a new stage of life and, at the same time, fully enjoy the benefits of being a student.
The player can choose the "technical" or "humanitarian" paths, where rooms are available, each of which is responsible for a specific discipline of the first year. Here, the player is offered tasks of different difficulty levels, for which he receives the stars necessary to advance to the next level.
We are ready at the moment: the starting location, the main hall, the TWiMS task rooms (the subject "Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics") and an example of solving one of these tasks. There are also rooms for assignments in chemistry, mathematical analysis, physics, programing, history, and the basics of project activity. The next stage will be the refinement of the user interface: tasks will appear with a text response, a start menu, and a pause window.
"We are constantly working on the game: we consult with teachers, "build" new locations, and design the user interface,— Maxim Yadrov explained the degree of readiness of the project. "The first version of The Eleventh Summer will be available on June 20."
