On May 13, the finals of the regional contest "Skills of young volunteer mediators of school reconciliation services" was held at NSTU NETI.
The competition takes place jointly with Nadezhda Boltenko, the Childrens's Rights Commissioner in Novosibirsk Oblast, with the Interregional public organization Social Partnership and with the Institute of Social Technologies, NSTU NETI.
Young mediators of School Reconciliation Service from Novosibirsk, Chany, Ust-Tarksk, Razdolnoye, Barabinsk and Bolotnoye districts took part in the competition.
The highly competent jury evaluated the skills of the young mediators such as the ability to maintain neutral and impartial, establish primary contact, use the active listening skills, etc.
The competition winners are:
· 1st place: Alexandra Khanina, School No. 19, Razdolnoye;
· 2nd place: Karina Maslova, School No. 14, Verkh-Tula;
· 3rd place: Anastasia Babenkova School No. 3, Barabinsk district.
"Every year the number of participants increases and the scope of the contest expands. This year the schools from the town of Bolotnoye and neighboring district joined us. This is not the first time that some schools have participated. We are glad that pupils are interested in it, which means that peer mediation in school is a promising area of youth policy," explained Tatiana Stukacheva, a board member of the interregional public organization Social Partnership and a member of the All-Russian Association of Restorative Mediation.
The winners of the regional contest will take part in the interregional competition "Skill of young volunteer mediators of school reconciliation services"to be held from May 24 to June 14 in Moscow.
The competition of young mediators is held since 2019 in order to develop school reconciliation services in Novosibirsk Oblast and summarize the successful experience of their activities.
