The Novosibirsk Zoo is one of the biggest zoos in Russia. This is the only zoo in the world which is located in the natural pine forest. No wonder that many animals feel at home here. The Novosibirsk Zoo contains over 11.5 animals representing nearly 800 species, several hundred of them being included in the Russian and regional Red Books. The Novosibirsk Zoo has long been specializing in breeding felidae and mustelidae. Nowadays, the Zoo comprises the largest population of these families. Perhaps the biggest pride of the Zoo is the fascinating animals- ligers. Ligress Zita, the first cub of a lion and tigress, was born in summer 2004 In August 2012, Zita gave birth to liliger Kiara and in a year to three liligeresses.
