One of the priority areas for the development of industry and the fuel and energy sector of the Russian Federation is digital transformation, including the introduction of artificial intelligence. According to the Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2023, the key role is assigned to the development of an information and control complex for operational and dispatch management with intelligent decision support systems, introduction of intelligent sensors, intelligent technologies and means of monitoring and diagnostics of equipment condition, application of computer modeling using big data and digital twins, and machine learning methods. Moreover, these technologies are important and applicable both for large electric power systems and for individual electrical devices.
To implement intelligent and digital technologies in the industry, it is necessary to significantly modernize the training programs for specialists in the field of electric power engineering and electrical engineering, as they will have to work at the intersection of traditional professional competencies in these areas and new competencies in the field of artificial intelligence and digital technologies. Therefore, this Master's program is focused on the practical application of methods and technologies for solving problems of control, forecasting, optimization, and diagnostics of electric power and electrical engineering systems.
